Insights from the field of participatory investing

Shift collaborated with Build Healthy Places Network (BHPN) to bring together community advisors to inform a recent participatory investing project, the Common Future Action Lab: Participatory Investing initiative. The effort yielded a Participatory Investing Toolkit, a playbook for operationalizing power-shifting within philanthropic investment. Check out the video snapshot created by our friends at BHPN to highlight lessons learned from the project from project co-lead Sonia Sarkar and Tap Bui, Co-Executive Director of Song CDC in New Orleans, LA. Shift is exploring opportunities to carry forward the ideas that surfaced during this project, in particular applying participatory investing in the healthcare institutional space, to reframe risk and return calculations to center a return on health and seed power shifts for local community health equity efforts.
